James was born, raised and still lives in the Allerton section of The Bronx- he attended P.S. 96, MS 135, and St Raymond's High School all here in the borough (and Drexel University in Philadelphia for college). James made it a point to move back to the community he grew up in and has been doing all he can to be the positive influence needed in every community since he's been back these past 10 plus years.
After seven good years working at FedEx Office, James was hired at New York Communities for Change https://www.NYCommunities.org. in 2022 as the Public Safety Campaigner. Which has him working in both the state capital Albany and New York City Hall with elected officials advocating to make ALL communities in the City and State safe and give every New Yorker a chance to thrive.
James also co-founded a non-profit named We Rise As 1 https://www.WeRiseAs1nyc.com that does mutual aid, facilitates basketball tournaments, and connects The Parkside NYCHA complex The Co-ops, and Zimmerman Playground areas of the Bronx to much needed resources. He is passionate in helping his neighbors improve their lives.
We must redefine what Public Safety means if we really want to create communities that are safe for everyone.
Will you help me redefine what Public Safety really means!!!
Legislation passed in Albany can have huge impacts on the lives of every single one of us. I want to go to Albany and fight to pass TRANSFORMATIVE legislation that will improve the quality of life for all New Yorkers.
Poverty is the only enemy we should be fighting against, not each other, eliminating poverty while raising those experiencing poverty and the working poor up to the middle class are the keys to improving the quality of life for those who need it most. Transformative legislation is how we will get there.
Improving quality of life means fully funding public schools, good union jobs, tenet protections, and combating the climate crisis. It also means protecting bail reform and freeing our elders from long prison sentences (reuniting families) and a New Deal for CUNY.
Improving quality of life and eliminating poverty are the minimum changes that need to happen if we want a society that works for everybody, and a society that works for everybody has to be the goal going into this uncertain future of ours.
